Fashion STYLE: Sneaker Head
March 3, 2021
Hello Tribe! I can’t believe how long it’s been since I posted a “Fashion” Blog. The last one featured my Nike Air Force 1’s which I am a huge fan of. And since that first day of 2021, we’ve been lucky in our community that our children have had the ability to participate in sports. My oldest son plays Varsity basketball and one of the influences that being a basketball mom has afforded me, is my awareness of the importance of “Kicks”. My son is in full Sneaker Head* mode these days. Not only does he appreciate Nike’s and wears them to dances, but he has started a business cleaning and restoring them! (Yes, proud mama moment!)
“The NBA is the most stylish league around and the NBA Superstars are the most stylish group of athletes of all time” Mark Anthony Green, GQ magazine
Whether consciously or subconsciously, the NBA culture has shaped many fashion trends today. Being a more experienced mom (translation: I started mom-hood a little later than some), I need to be careful not to get too trendy. My general rule of thumb is to be Classically Fashionable and then throw some “trendy pieces” in the mix. So, what is my latest obsession? COACH Court Shoes !! (Linked)
I picked some up on Nordstrom online and when they arrived, I knew I had the approval when I graduated from “Those are Dope!” to “Those are Sick!”. I bought 2 pairs because I couldn’t decide between them (and I’m still deciding if keeping them both is too indulgent). The basketball influence is apparent, not only by design, but even by the name alone…“Court Shoes”.
My review on these? Super comfortable and lightweight. The support is what I personally like. There are shock absorbing pods in the heel and the flexible grooved sole gives good traction. They run a little big so buy a half size down. I’ve been a COACH fan for 20 years now and I love that they’ve stepped up their game. When I opened the box, they were more beautiful in person than I ever imagined!
I think I may be heading into my adult Sneaker Head phase ;-) Is that a thing?! Before I head off, I need to show off the person who made me the Sneaker Head I am.
The biggest Sneaker Head of all, my son…
