Matcha Monday P. 2
Welcome to Matcha Monday Part 2! There have been several special requests for this follow up to “I Love You So Matcha!” (y’all know who you are). Apparently, I’ve been dragging my feet and time has just zoomed by since my last Matcha post. Sorry Guys!
By the way...those of you who’ve requested this and those of you that make it to the end of this get a bonus treat! (My famous...and seriously it’s famous...personal Starbuck’s matcha recipe)
Ok, so if you’ve read Part 1… now you know how rich in antioxidants Matcha is. The process, which consists of picking the leaves, steaming, stemming, deveining and grinding them, is so complex. Matcha has been an ancient staple of Japanese medicine and, in my opinion, is the best green tea. It’s native only to Japan and nutritionists and health experts around the world value it for its many benefits.
One benefit not commonly known is that drinking Matcha tea helps to calm the nerves. I think because it does contain natural caffeine, that people would think that it may do just the opposite. But the natural energy you get
from the caffeine in matcha does not mimic the jittery energy you would get by drinking coffee or pop or some popular energy drinks on the market. There’s a good reason why this tea has been used for centuries throughout the Far East and has been a staple of meditation aids. This is because it contains an elusive amino acid called L-Theanine which alters brain waves so that you can achieve ultimate calmness. These alpha waves are beneficial for maintaining mental health.
And while we are on the topic of L-Theanine, L-Theanine does wonders in enhancing memory capacity and concentration capabilities. Though you can find it in some supplements, I think it’s best when you ingest it from a natural source. Matcha is exactly that, a natural source which can improve your ability to study and enhance your productivity at work!
Congratulations! You made it! Don’t you feel smarter and calmer already?! :) Now that’s it for this weeks “Matcha Monday”. Stay tuned as I will continue to feed your mind with all things matcha!
Here is my Special Secret Starbuck’s Recipe:
HOT: Grande Green Tea Soy Latte
½ Water ½ Soy (means half the calories)
6 scoops of matcha
(add ½ pump peppermint or pistachio for extra yumminess!)
COLD: Same but don’t add ½ water (the ice will already water it down)
With Love…XOXO S.T.Y.L.E Nation!
