Denim Revolution

Jeans were invented by Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss in 1873. Obviously, pants have been around for much longer but, the denim style jean pants started a whole new era. They were invented during the gold rush to serve a completely different purpose than they currently do. Historyofjeans.com shared, “They were first working clothes, then symbols of disobedience only to become fashion items. History of denim and jeans is long and colorful.”  As we know, women were not originally “allowed” to wear pants until 1934, or at least that is when the first official line of women’s pants came out causing quite an up-roar! It was a trend that was deemed un-lady like and yet over time it became a symbol of rebellion and feminism. This was until WW2 when Rosie the Riveter led her call to action and women began to work. All of the sudden, jeans and capris became the new necessity. After all you can’t have your skirt getting caught in the machinery! Women wearing pants didn’t end with the war. It carried on and brought in new waves of forbidden style!

Now looking back over the last couple of years, fashion seems to be all over the place. One second you buy something for a trend, the next second the trend is over. Especially in the jeans department! I have seen skinny jeans, baggy jeans, straight leg jeans, I have even been loving bell bottoms making a comeback. All sorts of different styles worn by every generation.

It can be hard finding jeans that fit the trends and work well with your body type because everybody is different. It is finding the best option that works for you! Sometimes I find myself wanting to skip the jeans completely and wearing my Lulu Joggers! The truth is, if you like your jeans and they make you strut your stuff with confidence, then you are in style and on trend.

I find that I always go back to my favorite brands. They make me feel good, which makes me look good. I also love to see jean brands that the younger generations enjoy. As far as I can see, people are really using their jeans to make a statement! It makes me very excited to see this new turn in fashion.

My Style

Here are some of my absolute favorite jean brands that are super cute and great quality! They hug all the right places and really bring my personal style all together. They are great for work, play, casual outings, and with the right accessories you can really dress to impress.

Lucky Brand

As you can see I tend to lean more towards the Skinny, Cigarette, Capri, baggy, and ripped. I find that they suit my body the best and do a really good job of emphasizing my style. Plus, I do of course have some pants with that super fun 70’s flare!

Other S.T.Y.L.E Favorites

I really enjoy some of the trends that are making a comeback. They remind me of things I wore in my teen years. Take for example mom jeans! However, some of the styles that are coming to light are to die for! Here are a couple cute styles that I found on these multi- generational jean sites.

I of course had to add some cute denim overalls because I have been seeing them pop up all over the place. I love to see all the creative juices flowing and confidence growing. I would love to see your STYLE so be sure to tag me in your photos on instagram @suitedtoyourlifeeveryday and don’t forget to Be Your Beautiful Self!
